Victoria Duke & the Academy of Glam - Pinup shoot

I had the opportunity to be one of the pin up girls for the Academy of Glam, which is run by the famous celebrity make up artist Victoria Duke. I had the chance to work with her team and it was a great experience. I am an official glamour girl for her site which is a site that cators to that classic style of elegance and grace.

So I wanted to pick out something vintage and believe it or not, Rainbow department Stores are now upgrading their line of lingerie. You can purchase the set now but it's a limited time only . So once it's gone ladies it gone.

My hair was roller set so when brushed out I would get that loose wave curl look. My make up was done by a New York make up artist, who has done work for R.Kelly's past videos Ignition by the name of Jill Oscar Salles. She has been in the make up business for over 20 years and she is a pleasure to work with. I wish her much success and I hope she makes it in the Academy of Glam.

Thank you Victoria, all of the staff for the Academy of Glam, and I also thank Jill for all their time, hard work and also the opportunity to be apart of this wonderful company.

PASSION FOR FASHION

I personally think this was one of my most memorable photoshoots. I was trying to replicate one of the most  talented and beautiful woman in Harlem Rennaisance History. (Joesphine Baker)
What a talented woman with her ability to wow the stage with her style of dance and comedy. What grace she had on the movie screen and how eloquent she truly was .

Razzle Dazzle Barbershop GrandOpening & Fundraiser for SafeSpace

What an amazing event ! What an amazing woman who made this event possible. Razzle Dazzle Barbershop is a great place for men to go and get pampered. It's a vintage barbershop catered to the men we love and it's an amazing place . Razzle Dazzle Barbershop is owned by the beautiful Elena. This woman is an inspiration and a wonderful person.

She wanted to do an event supporting the victims of domestic violence. With that subject in mind there are millions of women and children who are in need of assistance in this situation. I used to work as a social worker for SAFESPACE and when approached by Angelina from ACFG girls dance squad and Elena I had to support.

Elena made a star studded event full of glamour, fashion, dance and fun . She has been an inspiration to us all in the community of Miami Dade County and we all love her for it. Being a survivor of domestic violence and an advocate myself I want to say to you Elena " You are truly beautiful inside as you are outside and truly you are one of God's angels."

Here are some of the clips with co hosts from Miami's Deco Drive channel 7 of us rocking this event as well as Elena cutting the ribbon to her new shop in Mary Brickel Village in Miami Florida.

Anaiyah : Behind the Scenes : One on One Exclusive

When i first started modeling I was a pin up model as in pinned up for my great grandmother's clothing. She would sew uniforms for the children in the neighborhood in Jamaica. Wow was she talented. After she was done with her outfits I would take the scraps and create dresses, shorts, hats, pants, and skirts for my dolls with a neighborhood friend of mine since my mother couldn't afford to buy me doll clothes. It was fun I started sewing around the age of seven.

Later on I continued to learn off my mother since well practically every female in my mother's family knew how to sew, design and illustrate fashions. I recall when I was eight years old I was watching the fashion netowrk channel at the time and I made a blue rayon dress with a long train for my doll and something remotely simular came up on the screen. My auntie Winsome was estatic and ran and told my mother I will grow up having a passion for fashion.

As I grew older around the age of 12 or thirteen I began doing local runway venues for small boutiques around the North Miami area. I was the town favorite. As time passed on I struggled my way through into becoming some what of a success story for my mother. She put me in alot of things. Dance , Music Appreciation, Chorus, and even Basketball. My mother made it an effort for me to grow up with so many outlets of opportunities. I am so thankful for her.

Around 16 or 17 I decided to make clothing for my best friend Darlene. Her mother couldn't afford school clothes so I would either make them from scratch or what most call today creatively style her clothing. I would resuchure her clothing, do her hair , nails and feet so she would look super original for class everyday.
On my senior year of high school I became a featured columnist for my high school newspaper as a fashion critic. Ironically enough , I am now a part owner to a online high fashion publication.

Later on in my early twenties I regained all my strength and became who I am today. A struggling artist who's motivation started from the age of seven.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blogs and learning more and more about me.

THE MAN BEHIND THE LENSE: TRIBUTE BLOG TO PHOTOGRAPHY BY LEON

I've noticed  that so many people love these photos, but still havent pieced the guy who shot them. He is the exclusive photographer to my High Fashion Magazine "THE MIAMI STYLE". He has shot two covers so far flawlessly but I was his protoge model for many years. Throughout the time working with Leon, he has taught me to become stronger in my posing , presence and overall presentation.

Many people have mixed opinions about him , but folks he is the real deal. By presentation alone his gear isn't just a camera and a flash. Leon comes to everyshoot with the best camera equippment, sufficient lighting, and he's really a great guy to work with.

He also is good wtih runway images, stock photography , calendars, posters , model and actor's portfolios and musicians photos. Basically his images are so good you can get them processed at any Photo Development center around your neighborhood and get good quality photographs.

He believes that presentation and delivery is key. I thank Leon for the effortless times he has gone far and beyond by developing me as a model and taking that extra mile for the magazine. Once again Leon old chap , Bravo !

Anaiyah : PHOTOGRAPHY BY JON GORR :: ANAIYAH FISHBONE PHOTOGRAPH FIRST PREMIERE AT ADRIENNE ARSCHT MUSEUM FALL FOR ARTS SHOW IN MIAMI FLORIDA

I am so thankful for Jon Gorr and Diana Castro for this photograph of me. This photograph will be in the Fall for Arts Showat Adrienne Arscht Sunday, September 12,2010. I am so excited for this opportunity and it's to be expected to be shown to about approximately 25,000 viewers to this show. I won't lie folks with new like this you want to cry tears of joy.

In this industry, as we all must know , it is very hard. It takes a devoted and dedicated individual to accept the norms and extremes and to keep on pushing forward. In plain speech, to have the heart to keep fighting for your dreams and never allowing them to die.

I have worked so hard throughout the years and it's not in me really to stop but I pray for more and more opportunities.

I'm so honored and so proud to be showcased in a museum. I loved the arts all my life and if my photograph is being showcased not only do I feel so very proud but it means that I am now in the making of history.

Thank you guys so much.

Themed Photography: Shooting With Jon Gorr

These photographs to me are very personal and are full of emotion. The whole shoot was very exciting because I was able to show emotion in these photographs. Just with a male blazer and a cap I was able to transform into the child who appeared malnourished , overworked, and depressed. The same jacket I showed pride and other emotions which I will get more photos later on to place on this page.

As you can see, the photographs show more and more of that innocent child that we all have inside of us dying to come out. The make up was really basic and non dramatic . I didn't want to overshadow the whole theme.

I love this photograph because it's mysterious. You can't see the detail of the face in the photograph too much but you can see the detail in my lips, hair nose , and of course the jacket. I really love these photographs.

I really want to say thank you Jon Gorr for all the lessons you have taught me throughout the years and I really appreciate it.

Starstudded Hair Show with Studio 61: The Dance of Hair

( Johnny Diol shown above .. You are truly an artist)
This was an experience of a lifetime. I was looking for this location to a dance casting near Coral Gables with my bestie Chris and I stumbled upon one of the most amazing hair salons I have ever been; Studio 61. The  star hair stylist Johnny Diol who is known for his amazing hair cutting technique actually requested for me to come back to the salon for they were participating in the hair show this past August at the Miami Beach Convention center.

(Lydia Davis shown above .. You rawk girlie!!)
I was so amazed because I never seen such a salon I personally made sure to sleep over a friend's house who lived nearby just so I can be on time for the transformation. My hair was used by the best in the making in haircare Paul Mitchell. My hair was relaxed , treated styled and Microbeaded by another amazing Hair Stylist Lydia Davis.

I was truly impressed because this salon believes in unity. Everyone works together and no one is divided. If a stylist needs help wtih flatironing an assistant which Lydia's assistant that day was Chris helped her along the way to my hair transformation.

(Berta Zayas shown above. You are amazing)
When enetering this fine salon you are welcomed by the beautiful Berta Zayas who welcomes everyone to this beautiful salon. In studio 61 you can also get the best treatment from teeth whitening ,paraffin treatment for those rough hands to be silky smooth, and even a calming hair treatment with natural brown sugar. ( Trust me guys I soooo wanna go back for that and I shall.) As the clients are receiving their wash or treatment you also have tuturials showing what are the services of the salon as well as their portfolio work in hair and make up. Yes they are on facebook and model mayhem so models please look them up!

(Katia Lopez shown above. Can you please do my nails again lol)
My nails were styled by the nail extrodinaire Katia Lopez. I loved my nails I really really did they were awesome!

The hair show was a complete success and completely choreographed by the amazing star stylist Jonny Diol and owner to Studio 61.I was so happy to be there and I am so thankful for getting lost to that casting that day. (which by the way I did find it and I made it !  details soon)

Thank you so much Johnny, Berta, Lydia, Eve, Katia and all of you . Thank you guys so so much for this blessing and I pray that there is more for you guys in the years to come because I truly feel you guys are the best salon in Miami Florida.

Below are some of the portfolio shots and  above is a cool hair Stylist Eve Verduga . She didn't get to do my hair but honey she's fierce.

I am so amazed that on my online high fashion magazine THE MIAMI STYLE , I am going to write about them again on my quarterly publication this Fall / Winter Spread entitled "The Director's Cut debuts October 2010." By the way Hi I'm the director of fashion and Co Owner to the High Fashion online magazine  The Miami Style Magazine .
